Appendix A. Name and geographical coordinates (decimal degrees) of the 26 study sites along the US West coast. Orientation categories are based on cardinal compass directions and approximate degrees (with 0° = North). Exposure categories are very exposed (VE), exposed (E), and moderately exposed (ME), moderately protected (MP). Geomorphology (rock type) categories are basalt, mudstone, sandstone, carmeloite and Monterey shale and bench steepness categories are steep (~35-45°), inclined (~15-25°) and gentle (~2-10°).
